A good reason to read the manual

Next time you’re hungry for a snack, you might want to try cracking open a Ford Maverick owner’s manual.

Oreo is making a limited-edition package that’s camouflaged as the 2022 Maverick’s manual as part of its “Oreo Thins Protection Program” promotion. The “Camo Pack” is disguised with the Ford Motor Co. Blue Oval and a picture of the Maverick when viewed from the side but reveals its actual contents on the top.

There also are Oreo Thins packages that resemble Green Giant vegetables, a Better Homes & Gardens cookbook and Hanes undershirts.

The cookie maker chose Ford in part because employees on the Maverick development team were such Oreo fans.

The pantry in the team’s collaboration room was stocked with Oreos, and members devoured more than 100 packages of them, sticking the top of each one on the wall for posterity.

Oreo is giving away Maverick Camo Packs — and a grand prize of $25,000, which it notes is enough to buy a Maverick — to fans who share creative cookie hiding places on Instagram and Twitter through Friday, July 23.
