$90k Dodge Challenger Redeye Vs. $475k Ferrari 812 Superfast: No Comparison, Or Is There?

Reviews

Motor Trend recently pitted the Ferrari 812 Superfast against a 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye for the latest episode of Head 2 Head. These two performance machines are drastically different yet the video is still worth watching.

Until the Ferrari SF90 Stradale starts reaching the hands of customers, the 812 Superfast is the most remarkable series-production model from Ferrari currently on sale. It is powered by a sensational 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine delivering 789 hp and 530 lb-ft (718 Nm) of torque at 7000 rpm. It is able to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h), impressive figures when you consider the 812 is a GT and not an out-and-out supercar like the Lamborghini Aventador, for example.

By comparison, the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye features a detuned 6.2-liter supercharged V8 from the Demon that pumps out 797 hp and 707 lb-ft (957 Nm) of torque, giving it a power advantage over the Ferrari. Dodge says it can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and a 203 mph (326 km/h) top speed.

The duo first go toe-to-toe at the drag strip. Of the three races held, the Ferrari won all three. Jethro Bovingdon, who drove the Redeye, was only able to record one quarter-mile run in the 11-second region, much slower than the 10.8-second time that Dodge says is achievable with the car.

The Redeye tested by Motor Trend was valued at a touch over $90,000 while the 812 Superfast had a sticker price of $474,489. Evidently, these two are not rivals but the clip is still a hoot to watch.
